Introduction

Taipei Veterans General Hospital Su-ao BranchSuao Veterans Hospital was established on July 1, 1958. Initially, it was meant for therapy purposes, and through years of our colleagues' efforts, the hospital operational style has developed into a regional teaching hospital that focuses on medical functions. After the implementation of National Health Insurance (NHI) on March 1, 1995, it even became the contracted hospital of NHI; in addition to providing medical care to veterans (and their families), it also carries the medical service responsibility for the general public. The Hospital is located at No. 301, Sec. 1, Subin Rd., Suao Township; the area is about 7.5 hectares. To improve the medical service quality of the Hospital, there are 16 departments: Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Infectious Disease, Surgery, Orthopedics, Rectal Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Dentistry, and Rehabilitation; and 2 special out-patient clinics: Diabetes Education, and Illness Prevention and Health Care for Children. To fully develop and utilize the broad and beautiful environment of the Hospital, and to fulfill the ideal of "Make the hospital look like a park, and make the wards look like hotel rooms", in the distribution of sick beds, in addition to setting up health insurance covered general acute and chronic sick beds, intensive care wards, respiratory care wards, psychiatric acute and chronic sick beds, self-pay nursing homes, psychiatric day rehabilitation center, diabetes care wards and dialysis room were set up, and expect to provide the best medical services for the public in Lanyang area with this plan.

Hopefully, all of our efforts can fulfill the medical function, and act as a good role model as a regional hospital. In this process, we still need encouragement and recommendations from everyone. Everyone is welcome to make suggestions to allow our function improve year after year. Thank you.
