Preface
Originated from "the Home of Maoli Veterans Hospital”under
the Veterans Affairs Commission of Executive Yuan, this hosptial was
established on April 1, 1955. It was transformed to be the "home of
Yuanshan Veterans Hospital
" on July 16, 1956 subordinated to the Taiwan Provincial Government. It
had been restructured since July 1, 1957 to be "Taiwan Yusan Veterans
Tuberculosis Hospital” until July 1, 1958 as it was reformed as
the "Taiwan Yuanshan Veterans Hospital. As from April 1, 1963, the
hospital has returned to be subordinated to Veterans Affairs Commission
and renamed "Yuanshan Veterans Hospital of Veterans Affairs Commission,
Executive Yuan” on November 1, 1966 as per the rivision of the
Commission's organization regulations.
Located in the center of Lanyang Plain at Yuanshan Township of Yilan
County, the hospital occupies 5.03 hectares and has an elegant
environment. By following the medical policy regulated by Veterans
Affairs Commission, the hospital has been in conjunction with national
medical network project to provide the patients in northern area with
health care. In addition to supporting medical referral of veterans
general hospitals and the home of veterans, it has also aggressively
promoted community medical service in order to service the general
public and share national health insurance tasks. In order to provide
better medical care, the hospital set up an affiliated outpatient
clinic at Linshen Road of Yilan in 2002. In April, 2003, it earned the
quality accreditation of ISO9001:2000 and in 2004, it passed the
"hospital appraisal” and "appraisal of teaching hospital”
made by the Department of Health and has been rated as a "regional
teaching hospital”. Currently, the hospital has aggressively
reconstructed its wards, renewed its facilities and recruited talents
to enhance its medical quality and reinforce its service efficiency. 17
departments are currently available in the hospital which are: internal
medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry,
rehabilitation, neurology, family medicine, dermatology, radiology,
orthopedics, anesthesiology, dentistry, ophthalmology, urology, plastic
surgery, and traditional Chinese medicine. In addition, it also has the
following sub-departments available: hepatology and gastroenterology,
cardiology, pulmonary medicine, nephrology, otolaryngology, colorectal
surgery, and metabolism.
Based on its conviction of "dedicating service”, the hospital has
continued to provide the veterans and local folks in the area with
optimal medical services, and brought up the following three major
directions to make headway. It is hoped that with the directions, new
and broader horizons will be created in the future:
(1)To follow the "big investment to get juicy
rewards” project promoted by Executive Yuan and fulfill our
nation's "social welfare package”
The hospital will constitute an integrated long-term care system 10
years into the future from 2007 by combining private resources to
provide long-term care services, support home care system and
strengthen the cultivation of long term care manpower and application
of the workforce.
Geographically, this hospital is in a scenic area which is an ideal
place to develop a caring business, such as caring for the elderly with
dementia, daycare for aged residents and homecare. More effort will be
made to reinforce the medical team's caring capacity, give greener
environment and turn the hospital into a suitable place for long term
care.
(2)To establish an outstanding medical and administrative team
Limited only by the "grading management and control” regulated
for the health insurance, "effective management combined with no
waste” is the only way to give sustainable operation for
hospitals. The surplus saved from efficiency can be used to attract
more prominent doctors and enthusiastic nursing staff to the hospital
and offer innovative medical technologies and good service quality.
Hence, in the future, we plan to form a powerful administration to
manage the hospital and offer prominent medical service through
efficient management from the management center. .
(3)To create "sincere and touching” service
Without love and care, a hospital is merely a cold and emotionless
building even if it has powerful administration capacity and skillful
doctors. As such, we will carry out the vision we have for the hospital
and turn the hospital into a regional hospital with human based,
professional and computerized management. We will be dedicated to
nurturing a service culture which utilizes anecdotes to replace
advertisement and compassion to replace marketing and breathes life
into the hospital.
